Frequently asked

Common questions about Watauga Family Dentistry

Direct, no-nonsense answers to the questions we hear most often from new and returning patients. Don’t see your question? Call (817) 281-2061 or text us — we typically respond within minutes during office hours.

Where is Watauga Family Dentistry located?

We’re at 5710 Watauga Road, Watauga, TX 76148, on the main east-west corridor through Watauga, just south of Loop 820 and east of Rufe Snow Drive. Free parking lot, wheelchair-accessible entrance. We see patients from Watauga, North Richland Hills, Haltom City, Saginaw, Keller, Hurst, Bedford, Euless, Colleyville, Fort Worth, and Southlake. Driving directions and full contact info →

What are your office hours?

Monday-Wednesday: 8 AM-12 PM and 1 PM-5 PM. Thursday: 7 AM-12 PM and 1 PM-4 PM. Closed Friday-Sunday. The office closes for lunch from 12-1 PM Monday-Thursday. For active emergencies during open hours, call (817) 281-2061 and we’ll do our best to fit you in the same day.

Do you accept my dental insurance?

We accept most PPO dental insurance plans, plus cash, all major credit and debit cards, and CareCredit financing. Insurance networks change periodically, so the cleanest way to confirm is to call (817) 281-2061 with your specific plan name. We’ll verify coverage and get you a written estimate before any treatment is scheduled.

How quickly can I be seen for a dental emergency?

Most active dental emergencies—severe pain, knocked-out teeth, broken teeth, lost crowns, abscess—are seen the same day when you call as early in the day as possible. Cases that fall outside that window are typically scheduled within 24 hours. If a tooth has been knocked out, the first 30 minutes are critical—place the tooth in milk (not water) and call (817) 281-2061 on your way to the office. Full emergency-care info →

How much does a routine cleaning and exam cost without insurance?

With most PPO plans, a preventive visit (cleaning, exam, two bitewing X-rays) is covered at 100% with no out-of-pocket cost. For patients without insurance, we provide a written estimate before any work begins so there are no surprise bills. CareCredit financing is available for larger treatment plans. Per the CDC’s 2024 Oral Health Surveillance Report, nearly 21% of US adults aged 20-64 have one or more permanent teeth with untreated decay—most of which started as a small lesion that a routine 6-month exam would have caught.

How long does a new-patient appointment take?

New-patient appointments are scheduled for approximately 60 to 75 minutes to allow time for digital X-rays, a comprehensive exam with the dentist, an oral cancer screening, a periodontal evaluation, and a written treatment-plan conversation. If a cleaning fits within that window, it’s often completed at the same visit. Bring a photo ID and your dental insurance card if you have one. Full first-visit walkthrough →

Who are the dentists at Watauga Family Dentistry?

The practice is led by Dr. Jeffrey Ho, DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine, University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, 2016) and Dr. Maryam Qureshi, DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery, University of Michigan School of Dentistry). Dr. Ho completed a General Practice Residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center; Dr. Qureshi is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, with advanced training through the Misch Resnick Institute. Full bios and team →

Are dental implants worth the cost?

Per the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, dental implants have a long-term success rate above 95% in healthy adults. Unlike bridges or dentures, implants preserve the jawbone over time by transmitting normal chewing force to the bone. A single-tooth implant in the DFW area typically runs $3,000-$5,000 all-inclusive (surgical placement, abutment, and crown). With proper care, an implant commonly lasts 25 years to a lifetime — far longer than a bridge or denture. Learn about restorative options →

Is professional teeth whitening safe?

Yes. The American Dental Association considers professionally-supervised whitening safe and effective when used as directed. The peroxide gel breaks up surface stains through oxidation; it does not alter the structure of enamel itself. A single in-office session lightens teeth by 3-8 shades in about 60 minutes. Mild, temporary sensitivity for 24-48 hours is the most common side effect and resolves on its own. Whitening details →

Do you see children at this practice?

Yes. As a family dental practice, we see patients of all ages from kids through adults. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a child’s first dental visit by age 1 or within 6 months of their first tooth. The first visit is short and friendly—mostly a chance for the child to meet the team and for the dentist to check growth and brushing technique.
