In depth
Restorative dentistry is the branch of dental care that rebuilds teeth weakened, broken, or lost to decay or trauma. Watauga Family Dentistry provides the full restorative spectrum in-house: composite (tooth-colored) fillings, porcelain crowns and bridges, root canal therapy for infected pulp, partial and full dentures, and dental implants for permanent single-tooth and full-arch tooth replacement. Dr. Maryam Qureshi has completed advanced training in implant dentistry through the Misch Resnick Institute, and Dr. Jeffrey Ho completed a General Practice Residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center where he gained hospital-level experience in complex restorative cases. Most crown and bridge cases are completed across two appointments approximately 2-3 weeks apart, with a digital impression at the first visit and seating of the final restoration at the second.
“Dr. Qureshi practices integrated, whole-health dentistry with an emphasis on dental implants, TMJ disorders, and cosmetic dentistry. She has completed advanced training in clear aligner therapy, complex cosmetic procedures, and minimally invasive laser dentistry.”
Tooth loss is more common than most adults realize. The CDC’s 2024 Oral Health Surveillance Report documented that approximately 13% of US adults aged 65+ have lost all of their natural teeth, and adults aged 50-64 have lost an average of 9 permanent teeth each. Replacing missing teeth is not just cosmetic: empty sockets cause adjacent teeth to drift, the jawbone resorbs over time, and chewing efficiency drops sharply.
Dental implants—titanium posts surgically integrated into the jawbone (osseointegration) and topped with a porcelain crown—are the gold standard for replacement. Per the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, dental implants have a long-term success rate above 95% in healthy adults and, unlike bridges or dentures, preserve the jawbone over time by transmitting normal chewing force.
Most crown cases require two appointments approximately 2-3 weeks apart. Visit one: the dentist removes decay, prepares the tooth, takes a digital impression, and places a temporary crown. The lab fabricates the final porcelain restoration. Visit two: the temporary is removed and the permanent crown is bonded into place. With proper care, a porcelain crown typically lasts 10-15 years or longer.
No—modern root canal therapy is essentially a deep filling performed under local anesthesia, and most patients report it feels comparable to having a routine filling placed. The pain people associate with root canals is usually the infection itself before treatment. Per the American Association of Endodontists, patients are 6 times more likely to describe a root canal as painless than as painful.
Single-tooth implants in the DFW area typically run $3,000-$5,000 all-inclusive (surgical placement, abutment, and porcelain crown). Some PPO insurance plans now cover a portion of implant treatment. The practice provides a written estimate before any work begins. CareCredit financing is available to spread the cost over time. Call (817) 281-2061 for a consultation.
A traditional bridge anchors a replacement tooth to the two adjacent teeth, which must be reduced in size to receive crowns—so it “costs” you healthy enamel from the neighbors. A dental implant replaces only the missing tooth, leaves adjacent teeth untouched, and preserves the jawbone. Bridges typically last 10-15 years; well-cared-for implants commonly last 25 years to a lifetime.

Whether you need a simple filling or a full restoration, we're here to help you smile with confidence again.
